Pwll du is a fascinating bay that we used to visit with my mother as children when there was a shop (now a house) situated close to the beach. It is at the bottom of Bishopston Valley with its impeded drainage because of the marshland and large bank of stones which form the beach. It is quite close to the caravan owned by Margaret at Pennard and can be reached by a number of footpaths that stretch down to the valley from the Pennard area and from Brandy Cove and Bishopston in the other direction.
