I met Marg at Glanmor where we belonged to a group of lovely girls who became firm friends, many of whom kept in touch with her all her life. We had wonderful teenage years, spent mainly in Mumbles and the nearby beaches of Langland and Caswell. Patsy, Marg and myself earned extra money, when we in the 6th form, working in various Butlins camps. As already mentioned it was quite an experience and the kitchens were a health and safety nightmare but we didn't care, we were just there for a good time. We saved enough money to buy fashionable three quarter leater coats during our 6 week stay at Filey in 1966 (just before we all went to training colleges). We lost touch after college days, meeting up briefly to spend time at Caswell with our young families. However we did meet up again this summer,10th August. Marg was staying in her caravan and I was staying with my family in nearby Southgate. So she came for coffee the came out to lunch with us, chatting and getting on with all these strangers. She was still as friendly and vivacious as she was when she was a teenager, my family were enthralled. Especially when she entertained us with stories about her teaching career. One of which was how she tried to influence her pupils to become vegetarians by inspecting their lunch boxes and saying, "good child" or "bad child" depending what they contained. It shows the respect she must have developed because there were no complaints from pupils or parents. It was so good to see her again and I feel privileged to have had her as a friend in my youth and now very sad that I wont be able to share any more time together.
