In the 50s we used to stay in Ilston with my grandfather and grandmother for a lot of the school holidays and one of my memories is the way in which the whole village would turn out at haymaking. Another special time was that of the Harvest festival held each year at the village church. The whole church was full and highly decorated with fruit and produce from local farms. It was a wonderful place to play as children, we were indeed well blessed with a very happy childhood.
